Mercy (Original: Watercolor, marker, and colored pencil on paper, 2018)

This multimedia piece was a pro bono commission done for a church in Tacoma, Washington, USA. This church community is well known for its strong commitment to diversity, justice, and peace. 

I wanted to represent these values by demonstrating the movement of diverse peoples from darkness into light, led by an archetypal personification of the virtue of Mercy. It's quite a departure from my usual highly realistic style of artmaking, as the viewer can see.
