Artist Biography And Statement
Born outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the United State, I currently reside in Granada, Spain. I am largely a self-taught artist who revels in, and captures the beauty around me, infusing my work with the emotions that the place and the people evoke. My portfolio of some of the world’s most beautiful destinations reflects my many years of travel through Europe and Morocco, where I have been privileged to explore works by the world’s masters, and immerse myself in modern life in ancient cities.
My architectural works attempt to bring a sense of the aesthetic diversity of a handful of the cultures I have been privileged to know. I principally only render structures that I have seen personally, with a very few exceptions.
My portrait art celebrates the powerful beauty of the male body and the unique facial characteristics of my models.
My inquisitive mind has, over the years, drawn me to study the hard sciences, creative and technical writing, international culture, languages, and spirituality, and my work reflects this complex, eclectic mix of interests. A sense of humor is foundational for me and celebrates the absurd and humorous with those around me and is sometimes reflected in my art.
But first and foremost, I am an artist who finds beauty and joy in the things and people around me, and I invite others to look deeper to discover their own appreciation of beauty in my works.
As an artist, when I think of some of the things that have influenced me, moved me, and compelled me to capture them on paper, I realize I am captivated by individuals I see as beautiful or unusual, and drawn to places that touch me with a sense of timeless beauty and a feeling that history is there to touch.
This love of beauty has motivated me to make art that is inspired by things, people, and places that bring me joy. My love of connection drives me to want to help others engage with beauty in ways that perhaps they have not yet experienced.
